Amazing Advancements in Non-Invasive Surgeries

Throughout the past several decades, the advancements made in medicine alone have saved millions of lives. Apart from new and more effective surgical techniques, doctors have also begun to discover new ways to perform surgery that cuts the risks and recovery time of many operations through alternative non-invasive methods. These practices expand beyond traditional medicine and also include cosmetic surgery procedures. Some of the biggest advancements being laser treatments for dermatological problems, and PRP stem cell therapy for pain management.

Medical Laser Technology
Today laser procedures are widely popular throughout the field of cosmetic surgery and are used to correct skin discoloration and redness, reduce the appearance of acne and surgical scars, and minimize wrinkles. There are a wide variety of laser procedures, such as Fraxel and C02 which rise in the level of intensity depending on the laser. These laser procedures work by heating cells or tissues with the intent of manipulating or burning them to achieve a desired result. The downtime varies depending on intensity, but in general is used for a wide range of procedures and can provide the same results with much less recovery time and a significantly lower risk.
Non-invasive laser techniques are also used to correct vision through a procedure known as LASIK eye surgery. Through this surgery the cornea of the eye is reshaped and full vision is restored to those who ones depended on glasses or contact lenses. Lasers are also frequently used alongside invasive surgeries in order to seal blood vessels and decrease blood loss.

PRP Therapy
PRP Therapy stands for platelet-rich plasma rich therapy and is used in a variety of practices. Some doctors used this platelet-enriched blood to treat spine, neck, ACL injuries, and muscle tears. According to Nexus Pain Specialists, the blood accelerates the healing process and promotes the healthy growth of tissue.
PRP therapy is also used to treat hair loss in both men and women. It is completely safe, as the patient’s own blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge while the PRP is separated and removed. It is then prepared by through being spun at a high concentration and injected into the scalp. The blood then encourages growth and allows patients to improve their physical appearance without having to undergo any invasive procedure.

The Future of Non-Invasive Surgery
Techniques like PRP therapy are still being developed and as scientists and doctors continue to discover their advantages. Their uses increase and add to the growing list of procedures that can now be performed without puncturing the skin or requiring general anesthesia. It is a great discovery for decreasing major risk factors associated with traditional surgical procedures without compromising the results.
