HTC is one of the top makers of smartphones. Its latest offering, the HTC Butterfly is another proof why HTC remains as one of the preferred manufacturers of smartphones. The Taiwanese manufacturer is using the Android v4.1.1 Jelly bean to power this while incorporating powerful features like an 8-megapixel camera, a 2.1-megapixel camera on the front and 16GB of internal memory.

The HTC Butterfly has a length of 143 mm, width of 70.5mm and depth of 9.1mm. Handling the phone won’t be a problem because of its narrow body and curved glass display. The weight of the phone makes it more lightweight than other smartphones in the market like the Sony Xperia Z.  The HTC Butterfly is beautiful with its polycarbonate body, similar to that of HTC One X. There is a red accent on both sides that goes well with the smooth black finish.

Its controls for Back, Home and Task functions are placed underneath the screen -a characteristic of any HTC model. The 2.1 megapixel front camera is located on the upper left corner of the phone, with the volume rocker at the right side. The left side is completely bare.

The five-inch screen is one reason why smartphone lovers will fall for this model. It has a high resolution screen capable of showing up to 441 pixels per inch (ppi). It can show images in great contrast and high resolution colors.  It can also display vibrant looking images and videos even when under broad daylight.

This smartphone runs on a 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro-quad core processor. With the Android 4.1 operating system, users of HTC Butterfly will find it easy to open and run various applications that are operated with VoIP services like the RingCentral business VoIP. Playing games and browsing the Internet should be seamless with this smartphone, which also comes with 16GB of internal memory. The phone also supports up to 32GB of external memory via a microSD card.

Smartphones are notorious for poor battery performance, but the HTC Butterfly can last a full day with medium to heavy use.  Of course, it helps if users can adjust phone settings like Wi-Fi and screen brightness to maximize the phone’s battery life.

As mentioned earlier, there are two cameras in this phone- one is an 8-megapixel snapper while the other is 2.1-megapixel located in front.  The 8MP camera can capture photos of up to 3264×2488 pixels and can record videos in 3264×1840 pixels. It has a LED flash light as well.  HTC also incorporated various functions to make the camera even more engaging to use, with features like focus and face detection, smile shutter, continuous autofocus and geo-tagging. Other interesting add-ons include Panorama shot, landscape, group portrait and low light.

Photos and videos are stored in the HTC Gallery. Upon opening the said function, users have the option of viewing photos on their phone or on other apps like Flickr, Facebook and Picasa.  Photos can be zoomed up to 100%; users simply have to double tap the screen. All photos are displayed in 1080p resolution. The phone can play full HD movies, with superb audio quality even when played at high volume.

Overall, the HTC Butterfly is an amazing steal given its powerful operating system, brilliant high-resolution screen and overall Android experience.
